Pre Live Preparation
Pre-live preparation activities are critical to the success of the WMS implementation.
If your solution requires customisation this is done by programming staff according to technical specifications drawn up during analysis. Application interfaces will be configured using specialised tools, according to the agreed design. Once created, these are tested in conjunction with the external applications using sample data to ensure error-free data transmission and receipt.
System configuration prepares the WMS system for use by defining operating templates and setting parameters to match chosen modes of operation. It also involves preparing sample operating data (usually extracted and loaded electronically) to be used for testing and training. Once configuration is completed and data loaded, the system is fully tested to ensure compliance against operational and technical specification. It will then be installed on the customer machine for initial training to take place.
Training can be provided to suit different customer needs, but in general ‘super-user’ training involving small groups of 3-4 proves most successful. Training aims to achieve familiarity with specific functions and system options. It is delivered by dedicated trainers with extensive system knowledge and good communication skills, using a variety of techniques and tools to build user confidence.
