After several years successful use by Karndean Flooring Ltd of the Empirica WMS from Chess Logistics Technology, the system has recently been integrated with the latest generation handheld devices from Touchstar Technologies to enhance operations at its Evesham distribution centre.
Founded in 1973, Karndean supplies a wide range of wood and stone themed luxury vinyl floor designs for both residential and commercial environments. Based at its Evesham head office, the company is the UK’s market leader with more than 300 unique designs including its latest LooseLay Longboard collection.
With the delivery of excellent customer service in mind, Karndean continues to invest in its operations. The latest technology and infrastructure upgrades are designed to future-proof its operations and processes.
As an established Touchstar partner, Chess has previously integrated the market leading equipment with its Empirica WMS. As a result the transition to new equipment was handled seamlessly without disruption to Karndean’s fast moving operation. One of the main benefits of the new implementation is high speed data capture for increased productivity and efficiencies.
Karndean has also benefited from reduced misreads of both damaged and corrupt barcodes as well as enhanced reading of shrink wrapped products. In addition, the company has a solution that is scalable to support future requirements such as the reading of 2D barcodes.
Richard Crook, operations director at Karndean, comments: “We’re delighted to work with Chess and Touchstar. Our commitment to our customers remains at the forefront of our operation, and by integrating the latest handheld devices with Empirica we’re looking forward to optimising our warehouse processes to support our global operations. Both Chess and Touchstar have a proven track record of successful integrations within the warehouse and logistics industry so we have confidence that the solution will have a positive impact on our operations.”
