Location: Wirral, UK.
Business Background
Meyer Prestige is the world's second largest supplier of cookware products with manufacturing facilities in the Far East, North America and Europe. Its UK operation in the Wirral is the group's second largest in terms of sales, and the UK's leading housewares supplier.
The System
The Chess warehouse management system operates in a 16,400 square metre warehouse which opened in July 2002. The warehouse is equipped with high bay and VNA storage, automated sortation systems and conveyors.
Orders are received automatically from the business planning system by the Chess WMS which builds loads for picking. This information is passed to the software that controls the sortation and conveyor systems in the warehouse. When picking is completed, the Chess system is updated which then releases another order for picking. Finally, the Chess system notifies the business planning system, which issues invoices and other documentation for the completed order in a continuous automated process.
