Trade and Industrial
This may be literally the ‘nuts and bolts’ sector, but its expectations of systems is by no means basic. Subject to cost pressure, working on large buying scales in increasingly globalised markets, the need for efficient customer response is no less than that expected in the mainstream consumer sector. Trade and industrial suppliers must offer guaranteed availability and rapid delivery while maintaining price competitiveness against traditional and online competitors.
WMS systems must cater for varied item storage, from liquids and heavy solids to small parts and consumables as well as handling and reconciling production raw materials. They need to process BOM and kitted product orders for onsite manufacture and customer service contracts, as well as ad hoc customer and multi-branch replenishment requests. Interfaces to automated small parts storage, conveyors and sortation equipment are common requirements.
