Warehouse Voice Picking

Voice directed task instruction is a recently introduced warehouse technology which also uses wireless RF to send instructions from a WMS. Specialist voice software on user-wearable devices converts these instructions to voice commands, allowing tasks to be performed. Users provide verbal responses, which the voice software converts into messages to send back to the WMS.

The voice software operates on a variety of equipment from leading manufacturers. This equipment is integrated with specialist WMS products to create a full operational voice solution.

The big advantage of voice directed instruction is that operatives can work ‘hands and eyes free’. For this reason, large gains in productivity and accuracy can be made in operations consisting of multiple, repetitive tasks. This makes pick operations the key area of benefit, and is why cost benefits can multiply rapidly when higher numbers of pickers are employed.
