NNR Global Logistics (NNR) has selected the Empirica warehouse management system (WMS) from Chess Logistics Technology to optimise its new Northampton operation.

A member of the Nishitetsu Group, NNR is an acknowledged provider of high quality supply chain services. Founded in 1948, its continued organic growth has seen it evolve into a $4 billion global organisation with over 18,000 employees worldwide.

NNR has seen particular success within the UK market, having secured several significant contracts in 2016. With head offices in London, and regional facilities based in Manchester and Glasgow, NNR continues to invest in quality and innovation, implementing cutting edge infrastructure and technology to support its growth, more recently with its brand new warehouse and distribution facility in Northampton.

NNR aspires to provide customers with innovative products and services that support future growth. As part of the company’s ongoing expansion, NNR was looking to implement a new warehouse management system that would support the optimised running of their new Northampton based operation. The objective of the implementation was not only to support efficient and accurate warehouse processes, but to also provide a system that was scalable in line with the future growth of the company.

Empirica, the state-of-the-art WMS from Chess Logistics Technology, was selected and the system will integrate with TouchStar’s latest generation RF handheld devices. One of the main benefits of the new system implementation will be realised from the real time barcode scanning and high speed, accurate data capture. Other benefits include operational efficiency, capacity planning and management and productivity analysis.

With a high level of expertise within the logistics sector, Chess Logistics Technology has over 30 years real world experience in the integration, installation and support of warehouse management systems into logistics and distribution operations. The Empirica system will be fully supported in the UK by a comprehensive support and maintenance package ensuring reduced downtime and a seamless operation.

Tim Dabbs, Head of Contract Logistics at NNR, comments: “We are very pleased to work with Chess. Both Chess and Touchstar have a proven track record of successful integrations within the warehouse and logistics industry. Having worked closely with both companies during the planning and testing phases, we have absolute confidence that the solution will have a positive impact on our operations.”
